Welcome everyone, to my first ever blog!
I’m as unsure as you are at this point as to why I thought this would be a good idea.
Who wants to read a blog, by a nobody from Stockport (just south of Manchester for those who lack geographical knowledge), who doubts she knows what she’s talking about half the time when it comes to the beautiful game.
I should start by telling you that I’ve not always been into football. Growing up, I’ve always been around it. My brother is a Man Utd fan and from a young age he insisted we watched the games whenever they were on, which often turned in to a family affair as this was before the time we had a tele in every room of the house and you could sneak off to do your own thing. Mum and dad probably would have said I was being rude if I’d have done that.
I should also tell you that my dad is a Chelsea fan. Doesn’t bleed blue or anything like that – he enjoys playing Liquidator on full blast from his speaker in the kitchen after a few (more like 8) drinks at the pub, but he probably wouldn’t even have been watching football if it wasn’t for my brother. Anyway, he said he’s a Chelsea fan, and none of us questioned it so we obviously had to watch their games too.
I was at a stage in my life where I’d rather watch the Hollyoaks Omnibus or something daft like that. Young and foolish.
At the time I didn’t realise what I was watching. An endless list of incredible players in the early 2000’s. Players like Rooney, Beckham, Lampard, Gerrard, Terry, Henry, Ronaldo, Torres, Berbatov, Drogba, I could carry on for days…
I wish I’d have paid more attention.
I’m paying more attention now.
I wanted to create this blog to share my views on everything football.
Premier League, EFL, Champions League, WSL… basically ALL football.
I’m hoping it will be a chance to learn too. For example, did you know calling football ‘the beautiful game’ was popularised by Pelé… what a guy!
Anyway… Watch this space 👀
